Gigaro.

Gigaro is a sandy beachbreak near Cap Lardier on the Var coast, scattered with a few submerged rocks that add minor character to an otherwise forgettable sandbar. The wave is predominantly slopey and well-covered, producing a-frame peaks with crumbly, medium-paced walls rather than anything hollow or powerful. It needs a sustained push from the S to SW quadrant - the Mediterranean rarely delivers, which makes this one of the more unreliable breaks on the coast. When a strong southerly windswell does arrive and the wind swings NE offshore, the window can produce surprisingly clean, surfable conditions for a few hours before it deteriorates back into onshore chop. Wave faces typically sit in the 0.3-1.8m range. As a beach spot with a free car park directly behind it, Gigaro draws summer crowds well above what the wave quality warrants - August sees the lineup packed despite the frequent flatness, mostly with tourists from the nearby holiday developments. Outside summer the place empties considerably. When conditions here are weak, the broader area offers alternatives: L'Escalet and Cavalaire-sur-Mer can pick up E windswells with occasional head-high, punchy surf, and Le Lavandou further west sees similar pulses. Entry is straightforward off the beach with no technical access required.
