La Corniche.

La Corniche is the central surf zone for the Côte Bleue stretch of the French Mediterranean, fronting the town of Sausset-les-Pins with a series of shifting a-frame peaks over an uneven reef bottom. The wave profile is variable - sections run fast and steep with hollow faces when the swell has punch, while other parts of the lineup break crumbly and forgiving, making the spot accessible across a range of conditions. Peaks migrate toward the L'Hermitage end of the beach depending on swell angle and sandbar movement. The notorious exception is La Dalle, a rocky left near the main takeoff zone that breaks shallow and dangerously close to exposed reef - local knowledge is essential before attempting it. Adjacent to the port, the Menhir right-hander offers a more predictable ride and holds consistency better than the main peaks. Solid SE to SW swells are the engine here, with NE winds providing clean offshore conditions. The Mediterranean swell window is narrow, delivering roughly 80 workable days per year - concentrated but enough to sustain a busy local scene. Crowds are a consistent factor, with a mixed-ability lineup that requires spatial awareness. Two reef setups at Les Tamaris, a short distance west, offer alternatives when the main beach is packed.
