Sennen Cove.

Sennen Cove sits at the southern end of Whitesand Bay, just north of Land's End, and is Britain's most westerly surf beach. The break is a pure sand-bottom beachbreak with shifting banks that produce lefts and rights across the full width of the bay. On a medium SW swell with an easterly blowing offshore, the peaks stand up with real punch and can reel for 100-200m before closing out - occasionally throwing proper barrels in the right conditions. A fast, sectiony right forms near the car park at lower tide, while a more workable mid-bay wave develops around mid-tide on larger swells. The beach is highly consistent by UK standards, picking up Atlantic groundswells and windswells year-round, with spring the most reliably clean period. At the sheltered Cove end, smaller surf is accessible to beginners, particularly on lifeguard-patrolled days, and a surf school operates directly on the beach. The northern stretch of the bay handles more swell and suits intermediate to advanced surfers. The Cowloes, an offshore reef feature near the lifeboat jetty, can produce hollow lefts on bigger swells but carries semi-submerged rocks and is best left to those who know it. Access is easy via the beach slipway from the village car park. Sennen draws crowds whenever it is working, and summer can be busy with mixed-ability surfers in the water.
