Surf spot guide · Central Morocco, Morocco
Sheltered town-beach peaks beside the jetty on Deauville Beach, lighting up when a solid NW swell wraps into the bay.
El Jadida fires on the town's central Deauville Beach, where a stone jetty cuts the prevailing wind and shapes a stretch of sand into a run of peaks. The bay faces north, so the spot stays dormant on off-angle swells and only switches on when a decent NW pulse wraps past the headland. When it does, the waves are steep and hollow on the better takeoffs, running fast through medium-paced sections over a clean sand bottom for 100 to 200 metres before fading inside. Heights in the 0.3 to 2.4 metre range cover everything from waist-high days to powerful overhead sessions. Southerly winds turn the jetty into a natural offshore wall, the main reason the spot earns its reputation despite its tucked-away aspect. El Jadida itself is a historic Portuguese-Moroccan port town with a UNESCO-listed Cite Portugaise, and the beach sits right alongside that urban heart. Crowds stay moderate, with the lineup spread across multiple peaks rather than funnelling onto a single takeoff.
Northwestern swells peel across sand that shifts with each season's rip.
