Kerewei is a right-hand point break located in the southwest corner of Sumba, Indonesia, known for its long, clean walls that begin with a forgiving takeoff and open into fast, performance-friendly sections. Rides can extend several hundred meters on the right swell, with the pace picking up on bigger days and occasional barrel sections appearing. The wave requires a solid southwest swell to come alive and works best when the tide provides enough water to soften the reef. Access is via a sandy trail leading to a reef keyhole, and while the reef is relatively forgiving, low tide exposes sharp coral and sea urchins, posing hazards to surfers. The spot remains under the radar, offering a calm atmosphere complemented by surf lodges and local hospitality, rewarding surfers who bring confidence and good positioning.
