Lagundri, also known as Sorake Bay, is one of Indonesia's most famous surf spots, renowned for its long, hollow right-handers breaking over sharp reef. The wave is highly consistent and handles a wide range of swell sizes, offering long, powerful rides and perfect barrels, especially during the dry season. It features a keyhole entry that allows for a dry-hair paddle out, making access to the lineup easier. While intermediates can enjoy the wave on smaller days, larger swells produce heavy, hollow barrels that challenge advanced surfers. The reef is most forgiving at mid to high tide, but takeoffs and wipeouts can be risky during low tide or big swells due to the shallow, exposed reef. The spot attracts surfers from around the world and can get crowded during peak months, though the lineup tends to spread out thanks to the wave’s consistency. Local surf culture is vibrant, with surf camps and homestays nearby, and access is relatively easy, located at the end of a road in the village of Sorake.
