Rock Star is a relaxed, lesser-known right-hand reef break just north of Lagundri Bay, offering a swift but sucky ride ideal when the main point is crowded.
Rock Star, located near the village of Botohilitano about 10 km north of Teluk Dalam near Hilisataro village, is a fast, right-hand reef break that offers fun, fast rides with the occasional barrel, especially on mid tides and SW to SSW swells. It starts with a horseshoe-shaped bowl and can sling into a second barrel section when firing. The wave is shorter and less powerful than Sorake Right, making it suitable for intermediate to advanced surfers seeking a playful alternative with fewer crowds. Higher tides allow for turns and ramps for aerialists, while low tide makes it too shallow and increases hazards such as sharp coral, sea urchins, and quick takeoffs, particularly on draining tides. Access is via a scooter ride from Sorake, followed by a short trail. The area maintains a quiet, mellow vibe with curious locals.
Horseshoe bowl that barrels mid-tide, drains to urchin-studded shallows at low.
