Sawarna is a renowned surf spot in West Java, Indonesia, attracting surfers with its consistent left and right reef breaks, including a powerful left-hand point break famous for long rides up to 200 meters on fast, sometimes barreling waves. The waves work best with south to southwest swells and are ideal at low to medium tides, especially in the morning before winds pick up, offering optimal conditions for intermediate to advanced surfers. The lineup is less crowded than Bali and other Javanese spots but can get busy on weekends and holidays, where respect for locals and surf etiquette is important. Hazards include sharp reef, strong currents, occasional submerged rocks, and sea urchins, so caution is advised. The area features a deep channel for easier paddle-outs and is surrounded by lush jungle and scenic beaches, providing a relaxed atmosphere.
