Surf spot guide · Java, Indonesia
Karang Haji is a mellow right-hand reef break near Cisolok in West Java, ideal for longboarders and less crowded than nearby spots.
Karang Haji is a consistent and serene right-hand reef break located in a small cove near the Ocean Queen Resort, about 2 kilometers west of Cisolok in the Pelabuhan Ratu area of West Java, Indonesia. The wave peels for up to 200 meters over a relatively deep coral reef, offering mellow and forgiving conditions that are well-suited for longboarding and skill refinement, particularly during the dry season when swells from the south and southwest light up the spot. Access is via a steep road and a short walk from the parking area, but surfers should be cautious of submerged rocks, especially at low tide, as well as sea urchins and sharp reef. Additionally, there may be private beach access restrictions to be mindful of. The lineup remains moderately uncrowded on weekdays, with a local crew more present on weekends. Facilities are basic, so bringing your own supplies is recommended. The surrounding area is lush and scenic, enhancing the overall surf experience.
