Surf spot guide · Java, Indonesia
A punchy right-hand reef break just outside Batukaras Point, offering steeper and faster waves suited for intermediate surfers.
BK Reef is a right-hand reef break in the Batu Karas area, suitable for intermediate surfers. The wave breaks over a shallow reef ledge and offers a steeper drop with shorter rides compared to the nearby main Batukaras Point. Surfers can expect occasional quick barrel sections, especially on lower tides. The spot is more exposed to swell and wind, making it a solid choice for shortboarders seeking more challenging conditions. Access is possible by paddling out from the main beach or by jumping off rocks at mid to high tide. BK Reef works best on a rising mid tide with S to SW swells and E to NE winds, and it is most consistent from May to October. Channels on either side of the reef provide paddle-out routes.
