Surf spot guide · Mediterranean Spain, Spain
Right-hand sandbar wave sheltered by the Port Ginesta marina breakwater, accessible for all levels when Mediterranean swells arrive.
Port Ginesta is a right-hand wave breaking over sand just south of the marina of the same name, 30km south of Barcelona on the Catalan coast. The port breakwater partially shelters the lineup and helps hold up the wave face, but also caps wave length under 50m. Waves are soft and forgiving across a sandy bottom, suiting beginners and intermediates; more solid SSE to SE pulses offer enough wall for shortboards. The Mediterranean swell window is narrow and the spot sits flat for long stretches. Northwesterly winds clean up the faces; easterlies trash conditions fast. All tide stages work, mid-tide offering the most consistent banks. Entry is straightforward from the sandy shore south of the port. Boat and jet-ski traffic exits the marina channel close to the lineup - stay alert paddling out. Garraf, a faster a-frame, sits 2.2km southwest for surfers wanting more power.

Moderate crowds from the Barcelona catchment on weekends, mixing surf school students and longboarders. Quieter on weekday mornings.
