Montgat is a beachbreak just north of Barcelona, between the coastal rail line and the Mediterranean. Shifting peaks break over a mixed bottom of boulders and sand, producing a short punchy right and a longer, sectionier left. The Rotonda peak, in front of the roundabout on the A-19, is the most consistent section and draws the local crew on good days. Best conditions come on a solid NE to SE swell with a westerly blowing offshore. Works at all tides but tends to close out above 1.5m, and the boulder-sand bottom generates backwash on certain tides. Quality has faded as sandbars shifted, but it fires when the Tramuntana or Llevant pushes a proper Mediterranean pulse. Entry is direct: take the Montgat exit on the A-19, turn right under the road and the beach is immediately below. Crowding is a real issue on good days with a tight local crew holding Rotonda - respect is expected and parking requires vigilance against break-ins. Stormwater runoff affects water quality after heavy rain.

Take exit Montgat on the A-19 coastal road. As you exit you see the wave in front of you - turn around, go down to the barrier and turn right, pass under the road and you are directly at the water. Parking is generally available but beware of break-ins. Showers and a surf shop are available in the area.
