Masnou sits on the northern fringe of the Barcelona metropolitan area, about 20 kilometres up the coast. The break forms alongside a groyne that channels energy into long, peeling left walls running across a sandy bottom. Waves stay fat and mushy through most of the swell range but develop shape when NE to SE swells push 1 metre or above. Time entry carefully off the jetty wall; paddling through the impact zone at the wrong moment costs position quickly. Wave length consistently reaches 50 to 100 metres on good days, making it the standout ride on this stretch of coast. A westerly wind covers the swell angle for clean, cross-offshore conditions. All tides work, though mid-tide holds the best bank shape. The spot draws Catalan surfers from across the Barcelona area whenever the Med fires. Free parking, a surf shop and showers sit on site. Stormwater drainage affects water quality after rain. The real season runs October through March.
