Directly to the west, the Garde-Guérin reef offers a change of scenery - a capricious break that needs a moderate W swell to show life over its scattered rocks, and any southerly airflow will flip offshore. Further out on the headland, Dame Jouanne is an altogether different proposition: a raw ledge that sucks dry at low tide and punishes mistakes, reserved strictly for experienced surfers and the tight local crew that polices it. Access to the Garde-Guérin section runs beside the golf course. The main beach is accessible from the car park with free parking and shower facilities. Crowds are moderate and present - the spot is known locally, and a degree of territorial awareness exists in the lineup.
