Surf spot guide · Kadavu, Fiji
Daku is a split reef peak sitting closer to the beach in Kadavu, with fun rights, a few lefts and a beginner reform nearby, all best on the higher tides.
Daku is an A-frame peak breaking over a reef that lies closer to the beach than the outer reefs of Kadavu. The rights are the fun ones, with a handful of lefts mixed in. Rides are short, generally under fifty metres. Mornings are the time to go, before the breeze picks up. A northeasterly wind suits the peak best. Expect it to work from around 0.6 up to 1.8 metres. A south-east swell is the pick, though anything from the south-east round to the south-west can light it up. Come on the rising or high tide, because the reef needs more water to work. The Daku beginner reform, aimed at newer surfers, also wants the higher stages of the tide. Beginners, intermediates and advanced surfers can all find something to ride here. The coral on this inside reef is a little kinder than out on the outer reefs.
