Sant Tomas is a sand-bottom beachbreak on the southern coast of Menorca, sitting west of the larger Son Bou beach and sharing the same general swell window across the SE through W arc. The beach is shorter and more contained than its neighbour, which translates into a tighter, more focused peak that fires when Son Bou is still too small to deliver anything useful. Waves are fast and can get hollow at lower stages of the tide, with the short 0 to 50 metre rides typically featuring a punchy takeoff followed by a quick cutback section before the wave closes out. The setup works across all tide stages, though the banks tend to be cleaner when swell is building rather than backing off. A northerly offshore is the ideal wind direction for the south-facing beach, keeping faces clean and well-groomed during the calmer periods between storms. The location benefits from natural protection against W and NW winds thanks to the surrounding headlands, making it a more reliable option when those conditions are blowing. A small rocky island sits to the right of the beach and can generate odd reflections on bigger days, so survey the peak before committing to a position in the water. The water here is notably clear, which is typical of Menorca's less commercialised southern coastline. During summer the beach fills quickly with holidaymakers and the surf crowd follows, so early sessions are the standard approach to avoid fighting for waves with the tourist crowd.
