Cero is a sand-bottom beachbreak on the Can Pastilla shore near El Arenal, on the broad south-facing bay below Palma de Mallorca. The spot picks up swell from a wide arc spanning south-east through west, but the Mediterranean fetch is limited, so waves are infrequent and typically small. It needs a proper S through SW-WSW groundswell of at least a metre to get going, which makes it a rare working day in any given season. When it does break, the waves are crumbly, slow and well-covered rather than hollow, with a slopey face that suits beginners and longboarders looking to cruise rather than charge. The peak shifts on the sandbanks, offering lefts and rights up to around 50 metres. A northerly offshore, which arrives with the tramontana, cleans up the faces and is the best condition window to target. Wave length rarely exceeds 50 metres and the break lacks power throughout the tide range, firing equally across all tide stages. The beach sits alongside a busy watersports zone shared with windsurfers and kitesurfers, who become a genuine hazard on windy days when their gear can come dangerously close to surfers. On calm mornings with a rare swell pulse, however, the beach is uncrowded and relaxed. Access is straightforward via the paved seafront at Can Pastilla, with metered parking nearby.
