Located on the north coast of Puerto Rico just west of Arecibo, Margara is a legendary reef break that delivers some of the island's heaviest waves. Reached by a short walk from the coastal road, it offers long, powerful, and hollow rides for experienced surfers. The spot comes alive with solid north to northwest swells, producing impressive barrels and challenging drops. Hazards include sharp reef, strong currents, and unpredictable wave power. Margara rarely gets crowded but demands respect from all who surf it. This is not a spot for beginners or even most intermediates.
