Cap Sim is a right-hand point break on the headland roughly 15 kilometres south of Essaouira on Morocco's central Atlantic coast. The wave wraps around the cape over an uneven reef and sand bottom, breaking in 50 to 100 metre sections with a hollow inside bowl when the swell lines up cleanly. It is a sensitive setup, the wave only fires on a narrow window of mid tide and needs offshore easterlies to hold its shape against the prevailing trade winds that batter this stretch of coast. Best on SW through N groundswells, with NW providing the cleanest lines into the point. The headland offers natural protection from northerly winds that close out neighbouring beaches like Sidi Kaouki and Essaouira, which is why surfers chase the bumpy off-road drive south to find it. Access is via a rough track followed by a long walk to the points, a filter that keeps numbers modest. Theft in the parking area is a known issue and the cape is exposed, so going with company and travelling light is standard practice.
