Surf spot guide · Mediterranean Spain, Spain
Slow, forgiving sand beach break near the port of Sagunto, shaped by jetties that help hold shifting peaks for beginners.
The beaches south of Sagunto's large commercial port offer variable sand-bottom peaks across an extended stretch of shoreline on Spain's Mediterranean coast. Jetties associated with the port infrastructure help anchor sandbars, providing slightly more defined wave sections than the uninterrupted beaches further south. The break is slow and crumbly, with flat spots common - a consequence of the Mediterranean's limited fetch and the Balearic Islands blocking a significant portion of the northeast swell window. Waves rarely exceed 1.5m and typically arrive from the NE through SE arc, most often as short-period wind swell rather than organised groundswell. A westerly wind offshore cleans the faces when it arrives, though sessions are frequently onshore. The site is essentially uncrowded given its remoteness from Valencia city and the low wave quality. Beginners and learner intermediates can find forgiving conditions during stronger northeast blows, particularly in autumn and winter when swell consistency picks up from its summer low.

Almost always empty. The distance from Valencia city and the below-average wave quality keep numbers to a handful of locals at most.
Empty, low-key learner beach
Visit in autumn or winter for the best chance of northeast swell reaching a rideable size
Check early mornings when a westerly offshore can briefly groom the small faces
Bring a longboard or foamie to make the most of the slow, crumbly sections
Use this as a beginner option when Valencia city beaches are too crowded
