Jucar, Valencia.

Jucar sits at the mouth of the Jucar river, roughly 50km south of Valencia, where a pair of long jetties channel the riverflow and lock in well-defined sandbars beneath. The result is a peaky beachbreak that punches well above the typical Mediterranean standard, throwing up hollow rights that run 50 to 100 metres before sectioning off, backed by shorter, less consistent lefts curving back toward the jetty wall. Takeoffs are steep and vertical, demanding commitment from the moment you drop in. The wave wells up cleanly off the bar with good cover across the face, and on a solid northeast swell it can go genuinely hollow through the barrel section. Best swell window runs from north through to southeast, with the northeast quadrant most reliable for organised groundswell to wrap into the bay. A westerly offshore is required to hold the faces; the prevailing easterly onshore during summer keeps quality sessions limited to autumn and winter. The break works across all tides, though low tide can expose flatter spots between banks.
