Long, bending left reef with hollow inside barrels over dead coral at the tip of Simeulue's Alafan coast.
Known to most camps as Harbour Left, Ujung Alatat is a long left wrapping around a dead coral shelf on Simeulue's northwest tip. A stream-carved channel provides the paddle-out, taking 5-10 minutes to reach the takeoff. The reef tip sucks up hard and races, while a wider roll-in peak offers easier entry with tapered shoulders bending off the point. These shoulders steepen and hollow out on the inside reef, terminating on a shallow, punishing shelf. Smaller swells let riders thread barrels through the second half before the imploding closeout. Handles S through W swells, with SW optimal. Low tide pushes things hollower and faster, high tide softens the peak for workable drops on bigger days. Long-period swells create messy wash-throughs, so moderate swells with SE winds are ideal. Getting here from the southern camps means a 6-7 hour round trip through rainforest on crumbling roads. No facilities exist, bring everything. Difficult access keeps crowds thin despite excellent quality.

Roadside parking with a fee, pay the local fishermen. 5-10 minute paddle out through a natural stream channel carved in the reef. Access road from the southern camps takes 6-7 hours return through remote rainforest with crumbling bridges. No facilities, shops, or services at the break.
