Surf spot guide · Costa Verde, Brazil
Cepilho is Trindade's signature wave, a heavy a-frame peak breaking over a mixed sand-and-rock bottom at the village entrance.
Praia do Cepilho, also called Cepilhao, is the wave that put Trindade on Brazil's surf map and remains the best known break on the Paraty coast. It sits in a horseshoe shaped bay where the Rio-Santos road meets the village, so arriving surfers pass the beach before reaching anywhere else in Trindade. The bottom mixes sand and rock, throwing heavy, fast, hollow peaks that break both left and right, with real tube sections when swell lines up from the east or southeast against an offshore west wind. It has run on the covers of Fluir and Hardcore surf magazines and hosted regional contests, evidence locals take the wave seriously. Rocks along the shoreline are most exposed at low tide, so timing matters as much as size. Despite the reputation, the lineup stays lighter than Trindade's other beaches: roadside parking, a beach bar and camping sit right at the sand. Cepilho suits intermediate to advanced surfers able to handle a powerful, rock fringed a-frame rather than a forgiving beginner bank.

Cepilho is Trindade's best known wave and draws surfers from across Brazil in summer, yet local accounts describe the lineup as lighter than other Trindade beaches rather than packed. Expect a moderate crowd on good swells and a quieter lineup outside peak season.
Powerful, rocky, roots surf culture
Cepilho works best between April and October when the swell season is most consistent.
