Tiririca is the main surf spot in Itacaré, Bahia, renowned as the best surf location along the Bahia coastline and attracting surfers from around the world year-round. This very consistent beach break produces punchy peaks with both lefts and rights, offering challenging waves that are generally suitable for all abilities, though the stronger and faster sections may still be demanding for beginners. The waves break close to the beach with relatively short rides and work best during fall and winter, though surf is available year-round. Hazards include rocks at the corners of the beach, but the sandy bottom provides some safety, and water quality is usually clean. It regularly hosts local, national, and international surf contests managed by the local surf association, drawing moderate crowds especially on weekends and holidays. The atmosphere is lively yet relaxed, with simple beach bars, grassy areas with cushions, and a skate park overlooking the ocean.
